Choosing the right time to travel to Korea is not just a question of weather. Seasonal events, national holidays and price fluctuations can significantly affect the experience and budget of your trip. We have prepared a detailed overview for 2025 to help you – or your clients – plan the perfect trip. We also recommend paying attention to ready-made excursion programs with fixed dates, and for individual tourists, choosing adjacent periods when there are fewer tourists and more flexibility.

Spring in Korea (March – May)

Spring is one of the most popular seasons to visit Korea. The weather is mild, cherry blossoms bloom across the country, and numerous festivals celebrate nature's awakening. March is still a bit chilly, especially in the north, but by April, Seoul, Gyeongju, and Jeju are awash in pink petals. May brings lush greenery and pleasant warmth – perfect for city walks and temple visits.

Highlights:

Cherry blossom festivals (late March–early April)

Warm weather and blooming nature

Lotus lanterns and Buddha’s Birthday celebrations in May

Summer in Korea (June – August)

Summer in Korea is hot, humid, and full of energy. June starts warm and green, while July and August bring monsoon rains and high temperatures. Despite the heat, it's the best time for beach lovers – coastal destinations like Busan, Sokcho, and Jeju are in full swing. It’s also a lively season with music festivals, night markets, and water-themed amusement parks.

Highlights:

  • Beach season in Busan, Jeju, and East Coast
  • Boryeong Mud Festival (July)
  • Lively night scenes and street food markets
  • Monsoon season (mostly in July)
Autumn in Korea (September – November)

Autumn is often considered the most beautiful season in Korea. The heat of summer fades, skies turn crisp and blue, and the mountains are set ablaze with red, orange, and gold foliage. September is still warm and great for outdoor activities, while October and early November are peak times for fall colors. Cultural festivals and harvest markets also fill the calendar.

Highlights:

  • Fall foliage in national parks (mid-October to early November)

  • Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) in September

  • Grape and ginseng festivals in rural regions

  • Clear skies and ideal hiking weather

Winter in Korea (December – February)

Winter in Korea is cold and dry, especially in the north and inland regions. However, it’s a magical time filled with snow-covered palaces, winter illuminations, and festive charm. It’s also the best season for skiing and snowboarding, with popular resorts in Gangwon-do attracting both locals and international visitors. In the cities, seasonal markets and New Year celebrations light up the cold nights.

Highlights:

  • Ski season (December to early March) in Gangwon-do

  • Snowy landscapes and palace visits in Seoul

  • Christmas markets and winter light festivals

  • Korean Lunar New Year (Seollal) in late January or early February
