The demilitarized zone is a 4-kilometer zone, 2 km from the military demarcation line (practically, the borders of North and South Korea).
This zone is a legacy of the Korean War, which is not formally over yet (a truce has been signed between the parties).
The demilitarized zone is one of the most popular tourist destinations - several so-called. observatories from where you can observe the territory of North Korea; in addition, you can visit the infiltration tunnels (four of them have been discovered, although there may be tunnels that have not yet been discovered).
