A picturesque village, which inhabitants actually live there and not just come to work, is situated on the southeast slopes of Seolhwasan Mountain.

Its origins go to the 16th centuary when the Yean Yi Clan settled down there during the rein of King Seonjo of the Chosun Dynasty.

Though the name of the village has been slightly changed through years from Oyanggol to Oya to Oeam, a great confusian scholar and Chosun era statesman with penname Oeam happened to live here too. His penname actually translates as "Greate Rock", and his real name was Yi Gan...

Here you still can find thatched roofs and tiled roofs, rice fields and live stock, old traditions are well preserved here too, such as Jangseungje Festival (14th day of the 1st Lunar month); Jippul Culture Festival (October) etc.
